Teaching in the China in India Faculty Training Workshop of Christ University

January 5–15, 2018 | Bengaluru, India

Organized by the United Board of Christ University and the Harvard-Yenching Institute, the workshop aimed to prepare its Indian faculty for teaching an undergraduate course on China. The workshop included sessions on the main areas of development over the past six decades; major social and economic policy changes since China’s re-opening in the 1980s, emerging issues such as the future of the market economy, changing family structures, and an aging population; and Chinese soft power.

The GCR member, Dr Hak-yin Li, was invited to speak on “Introduction to Chinese Politics” and “Party and Ideologies” to the faculty and staff. Through the workshop, participating faculty and staff acquired a deep understanding of the latest developments in China.
