6–7 November 2017 | Tokyo, Japan

Dr Hak-yin Li, a GCR member, was invited to visit Japan’s NIDS to promote research exchanges between China and Japan. The NIDS is the core policy research arm of the Japanese Ministry of Defense and a top centre for research on military history. Research and studies focusing primarily on security policies and military history are conducted under the auspices of the NIDS. The NIDS also plays a role in training high-level officers of the Self-Defense Forces.

During the visit, Dr Li met with Mr Tatsuo Yamamoto, Mr Susumu Isakai, and Mr Masafumi Iida, who are the President, Vice President, and Senior Fellow of the NIDS respectively. Dr Li also gave a talk on the topic “Belt and Road Initiative and China’s New World Order”. Fruitful and intelligent exchanges were achieved.
