Participating in Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Nansha Technological Cooperation Roundtable Conference

21–23 August 2017| Guangzhou, China

In 2123 August, Prof. Kam-fai Wong participated in the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Nansha Technological Cooperation Roundtable Conference to promote academic exchanges on technology. The participants also included Ir Dr Hon Wai-kwok Lo, SBS, MH, JP, member of the Legislative Council; and Dr Allen C. Miao, General Director of the Fok Ying Tung Research Institute, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Dr Lo was the leader of the trip, while Prof. Wong was the deputy leader.

Prof. Wong was invited to give a speech on the “9+2 Super Connection Community” (9+2 超級連繫共同體). The “9” in his presentation refers to 9 cities near Hong Kong and Macao (namely, Donghuan, Foshan, Guangzhou, Huizhou, Jiangmen, Shenzhen, Zhaoqing, Zhongshan, and Zhuhai), and the “2” refers to Hong Kong and Macao. These cities have already built extensive transportation networks to facilitate communication. Hence, further cooperation should be promoted and the metropolitan areas of these 11 cities can be expanded. With Hong Kong’s abundant human resources and professional services, the Greater Bay Area Project is expected to bring synergies to the infrastructure and technology of these cities.
