Participation in the International Conference on Silk Road Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development

The Conference was held by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Association for Science and Technology, United Nations Environment Program, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, and Alliance of International Science Organizations with the theme “Towards a Safe, Green, and Resilient Silk Road”. More than 780 experts and scholars from over 40 countries and regions participated in the conference.


Prof. Emily Y. Y. Chan chaired one of the panel sessions entitled “Health-Emergency Disaster Risk Management”. The session emphsized the importance of promoting scientific advancements in disaster risk reduction under the Sendai Framework, and health as a critical component of reducing disaster risks at the individual and community levels.
